Applications are invited from a qualified Angiography / Interventional Radiologist for a VMO appointment in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Westmead Hospital within the Department of Radiology.

The successful applicant will be expected to work in a multidisciplinary team environment in the Angiography section of the Department of Radiology at Westmead Hospital, and be involved in triaging, prescribing, performing, supervising, and reviewing Angiography / Interventional examinations.

Currently there are two Angiography suites, performing well over 4000 examinations per year covering all organ systems. The department is active in basic science and clinical research programmes.

The Angiography / Interventional radiologist is required to participate in the afterhours on call roster for Angiography / Interventional procedures and be involved in teaching and relevant clinical meetings.

Applicants are expected to have completed their Intervention Radiology fellowship training with RANZCR or be eligible for their completion of Fellowship at the time of commencement of this position.

Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997 and Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2014.

Selection Criteria

Possess registration with the Medical Board of Australia, have completed a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology and possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) or equivalent as provided for Visiting Medical Officer in the Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts).

Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency

Successful applicants are required to provide evidence of their current external Medical Indemnity cover at the end of January each year

Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including :

o Proven ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.

o Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.

o Excellent organisational, supervision and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships.

o Maintaining and developing knowledge, skills and professional performance to the level required for contemporary practice.

o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and translation of research into practice to improve patient safety and quality.

Sound clinical knowledge in Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
