Job description

Are you looking for a career in the marine services industry? Our client is a leading provider of safe, reliable, and customised marine services to Oil, Gas and LNG terminals as well as Port operations. They specialise in providing marine support services tailored to the unique operational needs of their global customers in local markets. They are currently looking for a General Manager for their office in Gladstone, QLD.

Responsibilities will include :

  • The purpose of this position is to manage the assigned contract and ensure the delivery of the agreed service to the client in a cost effective and safe manner.
  • Ensure financial performance in line with budget and company objectives and assume P&L accountability for the contract.
  • Manage client expectations and build up a close relationship and goodwill with the Identify commercial opportunities withing the current contract to ensure timely payments from clients.
  • Ensure operational licences for executing the contract are in place and verify that the contract follows all applicable local legislation / regulations.
  • Verify that vessels are in full compliance with STCW and / or other local crew certificate requirements.
  • Ensure vessels operate in full compliance with all regulations.
  • Manage, develop, appraise, and motivate all staff and crew assigned to the contract.
  • Ensure security of staff / crew and vessels are always maintained.
  • Manage and control budgets for victuals, PPE, and other crew related costs.
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree at a Maritime Academy or other marine related advanced or university level qualifications
  • Relevant marine operating experience - preferably seagoing experience as a Master, Chief Officer, or Chief Engineer
  • In depth understanding and experience of marine industry and terminal operations is required
  • Onshore management experience in a similar role
  • Experience in Industrial Relations in a heavy industry and / or maritime environment preferred.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience
  • Pro-active work approach
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, optimistic, hands-on
  • Work rights in Australia
