Job descriptionClinical services for inpatients, Emergency presentations and outpatients. Participate in after-hours services and provide consultative services to colleagues. Support bed allocation, transfer of care and patient flow according to Hospital requirements. Clinical leadership to junior colleagues, ensuring high standards of patient care and evidence-based practice. Develop undergraduate teaching programs in liaison with the University of Newcastle and other learned bodies. A Primary Medical Degree registrable with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency. Understanding of the principles of clinical governance to promote quality and safety in health care. Qualification(s) in General and Acute Care Medicine, and a commitment to rural Outreach programs. Commitment to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching in medicine, nursing and allied health and willingness to participate in clinical research. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or other specialist recognition as provided for the NSW (Non-Declared) AHO Staff Specialist Agreement or the Health Insurance Act 1973. About the Role
The Staff Specialist works within an inter-disciplinary team to ensure timely, appropriate care and effective discharge strategies. Duties will include patient care, supervision and teaching, continuing medical education, research and administration.
