ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYTHDC has a range of casual opportunities for Youth Support Workers in the Toongabbie area.
The Disability Support Worker will contribute to the effective day to day running of support services aimed at maximising the living, employment, social and recreational skills of people with a disability and ensuring a quality service. Community inclusion, independence, decision making, and personal choice should be promoted through these supports, with a focus on individual needs.
We support participants with low, moderate, and high support needs with a physical and or Mental Health diagnosis & across all identified disabilities, from all backgrounds, in single and multiple programs.
Your role will involve supporting clients with complex mental health and clinical needs in the areas of social engagement, medication administration, mealtime management, domestic duties, mobility assistance, and community participation.
- Job Requirements
- Certificate III or above in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services or other relevant certificate.
- At least 1-year experience in the industry
- Experience with challenging behaviours
- A cleared Working with Children Check and / or blue card
- A cleared NDIS Worker Screening Check and / or yellow card
- A cleared current National Police Check
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- A valid NSW Driver's Licence
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Emerging Minds Training or willingness to complete (free online training course)
- Must be available for sleepovers
- Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Active, bubbly & outgoing personality
- Have a love & ability to work with children under 18
- Medication administration
- Able to drive long distances and assist with school pick up & drop off
- Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
- Adhering to privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Competent with Microsoft Office suite particularly MS Word and MS Outlook
- Genuine desire to provide the best quality support for young people with disabilities.
- Written, oral communication and interpersonal skills, including effectively communicating with Participants and team members from a diverse range of backgrounds and groups
