WHO WE ARE
The USU is a not-for-profit organisation that has existed to serve the University of Sydney community since 1874 when it began as a humble society for ambitious student debaters.
We provide key programs, services and facilities that enhance campus life for the many thousands who join and interact with us. The programs department deliver student experiences through a range of activities including programs, events, clubs and societies, activations and funding initiatives.

You have a talent for running exciting and innovative events. You are energetic, enthusiastic and full of creative ideas.
The USU is looking for two passionate students to plan, develop and deliver events that make campus life more exciting for students. The role involves working with each other, the wider Student Programs team and other internal and external USU stakeholders.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your event management skills. Coordinate events you are passionate about - events that allow students to express themselves. Be involved in the USU events like USU Markets, Welcome Fest, weekly Day Trips, Festival of Creativity, International Food & Culture Fair, USU Revues, and Battle of the Bands!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work within an exceptional team to curate enjoyable and student-centric events, fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie and creativity.
Embrace the exciting opportunity to create, develop, and plan self-directed events, taking charge of the entire project.
Liaise with relevant stakeholders (such as students, members, USU employees and University staff) to develop annual program of events / Coordination of a range of campus and online events
Assist in the coordination of marketing for events
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Current University of Sydney Student
An active USU Membership. It's FREE - join here!
Experience in event planning
Experience working within a set budget
Understanding of our Clubs & Societies program, as well as experience on an executive
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to work flexible hours as occasional evening work may be required
Available for an interview of approximately 30 minutes
Available on the 31st of July for a full team training day
DESIRABLE CRITIERIA
Understanding and experience of student organisations in a university environment
Current NSW Provisional or above Drivers licence
SUPPORTING MATERIAL
To be considered for the position, you must include Supporting Material (maximum of two A4 pages as a PDF) outlining your ideas for two (2) on campus events that target different interest areas (portfolios) as outlined on the first page of the Position Description. This material should cover, but not be limited to, the following areas :
SALARY
35.73 per hour + 12% superannuation
INTERVIEW PROCESS
Short-listed applicants must be available for an interview of approximately 20 minutes on Wednesday, 2 July or Thursday, 3 July 2025 between the hours of 9am to 4pm.
EXPECTED START DATE AND PROJECTED HOURS PER WEEK
Commencing July 2025, there will be up to 10 hours available per week to work during the semester. There will be the opportunity to work more hours during the larger flagship events throughout the semesters, but note that those hours are not guaranteed.
