Job description

Salary Range : $97,735 - $110,982 + Attractive Superannuation

The Business Improvement & Quality Assurance Branch sits under the newly formed Claim Process Improvement Division, and is focused on evidenced-based continuous improvement to ensure our clients receive streamlined and accurate decisions in respect to their compensation claims. The Branch also supports efficiency improvements to the delivery of benefits and payments to enhance the client service experience.

  • Duties
  • Conduct full merit reviews of compensation decisions determined under the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986 (VEA), Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Defence-related Claims) Act 1988 (DRCA), and the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (MRCA).
  • Provide a high level of customer service and engage with DVA clients regarding their appeal matters.
  • Assist with matter under consideration by the Veterans' Review Board (VRB), including providing advice and support to the VRB as required.
  • Undertake implementations of VRB decisions made under the VEA and MRCA
  • Manage a high volume of review cases, including managing competing priorities, and sensitive and high priority matters.
  • Build and manage relationships with key internal and other stakeholders.
  • Analyse and make recommendations on legislation, policy and procedures, and contribute positively to organisational change and broader objectives.
  • Eligibility
  • Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
  • All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to18 months.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
