The Property and Security Branch is responsible for enhancing the department's business capability through the effective management of the department's property portfolio, property enabling functions, protective security, emergency management, as well as a range of corporate site services and commercial contracts nationally.
The section is responsible for delivery of the department's strategic approach to the ongoing management of accommodation use and facilities services for the department's property portfolio, which includes office space, laboratories, quarantine facilities, air and sea ports and Detector Dog facilities. Responsibilities include facilities management, capital works project delivery, Property Service Provider coordination, contract management and reporting and accommodation management services.
The JobsThese roles would suit applicants with strong organisational and communication skills who have experience in facilities management, capital works project delivery, contract and financial management and reporting, procurement and stakeholder engagement.
The duties of the roles include, but are not limited to :
supporting the department's facilities management services whilst ensuring safety and compliance and optimising occupancyoverseeing the development and delivery of preventative maintenance for the department's sites including building services, inspections and condition assessment reportsundertaking capital works project delivery to time, budget and stakeholder requirementssupporting departmental business functions provided by the regionsundertaking the procurements of goods and services in alignment with the Commonwealth Procurement Rulesengaging and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve required outcomes, support positive relationships and ensure communication of upcoming worksmanaging the transition and handover of project and business-as-usual activitiesactively participating in relevant governance meetings and representing the department during working group meetingsproviding issue resolution and communication for internal and external stakeholders and escalating issues that have a wider departmental impact on staff or business continuityproviding leadership to branch staff including coaching, capability development and problem solving.Please notethat this recruitment process will be used to fillfour ongoing vacancies in the section with one vacancy available in each of the four locations listed on the job descriptionThe merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.What we are looking forKnowledge and experienceAn understanding of the structure and business operations of the department including strategic objectives, priorities and risks.An understanding of the _Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013_.An understanding of legislation and industry standards relating to property, particularly the Building Codes of Australia.Knowledge of facilities management.Eligibility and other requirementsThe successful applicants must
