APS 6 - $91,944 - $104,393 per annum plus superannuation

  • Who we are

The Property and Security Branch is responsible for enhancing the department's business capability through the effective management of the department's property portfolio, property enabling functions, protective security, emergency management, as well as a range of corporate site services and commercial contracts nationally.

The section is responsible for delivery of the department's strategic approach to the ongoing management of accommodation use and facilities services for the department's property portfolio, which includes office space, laboratories, quarantine facilities, air and sea ports and Detector Dog facilities. Responsibilities include facilities management, capital works project delivery, Property Service Provider coordination, contract management and reporting and accommodation management services.

  • These roles would suit applicants with strong organisational and communication skills who have experience in facilities management, capital works project delivery, contract and financial management and reporting, procurement and stakeholder engagement.

    The duties of the roles include, but are not limited to :

  • supporting the department's facilities management services whilst ensuring safety and compliance and optimising occupancy
  • overseeing the development and delivery of preventative maintenance for the department's sites including building services, inspections and condition assessment reports
  • undertaking capital works project delivery to time, budget and stakeholder requirements
  • supporting departmental business functions provided by the regions
  • undertaking the procurements of goods and services in alignment with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules
  • engaging and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve required outcomes, support positive relationships and ensure communication of upcoming works
  • managing the transition and handover of project and business-as-usual activities
  • actively participating in relevant governance meetings and representing the department during working group meetings
  • providing issue resolution and communication for internal and external stakeholders and escalating issues that have a wider departmental impact on staff or business continuity
  • providing leadership to branch staff including coaching, capability development and problem solving.

  • What we are looking for
  • Knowledge and experience
  • An understanding of the structure and business operations of the department including strategic objectives, priorities and risks.
  • An understanding of the _Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013_.
  • An understanding of legislation and industry standards relating to property, particularly the Building Codes of Australia.
  • Knowledge of facilities management.

  • The successful applicants must

  • hold and maintain a valid Australian motor vehicle drivers licence
  • obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) and a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
