About the Role :
Are you an Literacy / Numeract teacher eager to make a real impact on students' lives? Tradewind is partnering with a college that collaborates with Youth Justice Precinct and Secure Care Units in Melbourne's West. Starting in Term 3, you'll have the opportunity to work with students aged 15-18 in small class settings, benefiting from excellent teacher support and well-being initiatives. This role would involve teaching basic Literacy / Numeracy to students, with a preparedness to tailor lessons to students' abilities.
The goal is to provide high-quality education tailored to the needs of young people in custody, in collaboration with the Department of Justice and Community Safety, as well as the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.

Teachers employ High Impact Engagement Strategies (HIES) and High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) within a Trauma-Informed and Culturally Responsive framework, encouraging students to grow as individuals.
To support staff, the College has integrated wellbeing programs that address the stresses of teaching. Teachers meet biweekly in wellbeing groups led by a clinician and can access individual sessions with the wellbeing team. Self-care plans are also developed to help mitigate stress and prevent burnout.
