About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Sea Freight Operator to join our team on a casual basis for a 6-month contract. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in freight forwarding and logistics, with a focus on sea freight operations. This role involves managing transshipment details, coordinating customs documentation, liaising with clients, and ensuring seamless freight operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transshipment Coordination :

Check vessel details and transshipment schedules.

  • Send transshipment pre-alerts to clients when vessels are not confirmed.
  • Confirm transshipment vessel ETD dates and send pre-alerts upon confirmation.
  • Customs Documentation :
  • Verify all customs clearance documents in the system before submission.

  • Chase origin offices, client services, or consignees for missing documents.
  • Handle sea cargo under bond, email arrival notices, and manifests.
  • Shipment Allocation & Documentation :
  • Allocate shipments to the cartage team when required.

  • Issue relevant documentation, including pre-alerts, arrival notices, manifests, and cartage advice.
  • Provide customs brokers with freight details, delivery addresses, and additional supporting documents.
  • Rate and Invoice Management :
  • Confirm and save buying and selling rates for jobs.

  • Post invoices and request EDOs.
  • Ensure invoices, arrival notices, and other critical documents are uploaded to the system.
  • Client Services Support :
  • Assist in verifying pre-alerts and debit notes from the origin office.

  • Resolve discrepancies in debit notes and liaise with the accounts team for payment confirmation.
  • Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar sea freight operations role.
  • Qualifications within Supply Chain or Logistics are preferred but not essential
  • Must have full working rights for Australia
  • Proficiency in managing transshipment schedules, customs clearance documentation, and freight forwarding processes.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with clients, customs brokers, and internal teams.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific systems and processes is essential.
