We are recruiting full-time, fixed term, Support Workers to join our Stronger Ground South team.

As a Support Worker, you will provide psychosocial support to people living with mental illness across the Perth metropolitan area. The role requires travelling to meet clients in various locations.

Hours of work are 38 hours per week, Monday - Friday, between the hours of 8am-5pm.

As a Support Worker you will work in a trauma informed way to liaise with Support Coordinators and provide capacity building support as determined by the client's recovery goals. The focus of work is to support clients to reconnect with community and improve their mental health and wellbeing and overall quality of life. The successful applicants will have experience in working with clients in a family inclusive way, working in a team environment, and liaising with mental health professionals, housing providers and other appropriate services to support the client's recovery journey.

  • Who are we looking for?

It is expected that the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following :

  • Completion of or progress towards a relevant qualification (Certificate II / III), and / or relevant work experience, and / or lived experience.
  • Ability to engage with individuals within different levels of needs and build and maintain a professional relationship.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to the functioning of the team.
  • Ability to model positive behaviours, emotional maturity, coping skills and resilience.
  • Good interpersonal and effective communication skills.
  • Understanding of basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and client reporting systems.
  • Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to the vision, mission, core values and the guiding principles of the organisation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity, gender and social inclusion, particularly Aboriginal culture.
