Due to an internal transition to retirement, QSL is seeking to appoint a Manager of Health, Safety, Environment and Risk, responsible for developing and implementing HSE systems and procedures in-line with global best practice and legal requirements. This role has a focus on continuous improvement through building collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders and supporting operational leaders.

Reporting to the General Manager Operations, key accountabilities and deliverables in the role include :

  • Collaborating with QSL's operational leaders to successfully develop and implement the HSE strategic plan across all six bulk sugar terminals located between Cairns and Bundaberg.
  • Effective identification, prioritisation, and delivery of HSE systems, policies, and practices.
  • Managing the HSE audit process and ensuring compliance to ISO standards across multiple operational sites.
  • Development of the company risk strategy, aligned to best practice and QSL's people, assets, and the environment.
  • Excellent analysis and writing skills with the ability to create targeted and engaging reports.
  • Effectively collaborating with all stakeholders to develop and implement HSE practices.
  • Supporting QSL's continuous improvement approach and Business Excellent program to develop and capture innovation opportunities that drive operational excellence.
  • To excel in this critical role, you will have the proven ability to set and drive HSE and Risk strategy within operational or capital-intensive environments. Coupled with this, your stakeholder engagement skills will be well honed from your experience in engaging with senior leaders, external stakeholders, and site-based teams. Your ability to juggle competing priorities with a strategic and operational focus will be highly regarded.

    Tertiary qualifications in OH&S, Psychology or a similar discipline is highly desirable.

    Your high attention to detail, coupled with excellent report writing skills whilst understanding operational scope of works given your background in bulk materials handling or like industry is advantageous.
