This recruitment pool will run for a period of twelve months and may be used to fill ongoing, fixed-term, and permanent opportunities. Currently, there is one permanent position and one fixed-term contract available for immediate filling.

About the roleJoin our team in assisting Aboriginal people to navigate Court and Tribunal processes. The Senior Aboriginal Advisory Officer (Higher Courts) provides high-level services and accurate information to Aboriginal court users, contributing to an efficient, effective, and culturally responsive court service.

The role involves developing strategies and processes to educate the Aboriginal community about the operations of the State Administrative Tribunal and the Family Court of Western Australia (FCWA). It also includes explaining rights, obligations, court procedures, and protocols in accessible language, aiming to alter perceptions about the court systems among Aboriginal people.

Key responsibilities include :

Providing judicial officers and court staff with understanding and awareness of Aboriginal issues, social structures, culture, and traditions through training, advice, and advocacy.Assisting with projects relevant to the division or branch, contributing expertise to planning, development, implementation, and evaluation for performance improvement.Supporting outer metropolitan Magistrates Courts and Higher Courts as needed, under management direction.For permanent positions, eligibility requires Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
