State Swim is currently seeking an energetic and driven Operations Manager to oversee our vibrant, high-paced South of the River locations. This key leadership role supports the growth and development of both our people and our facilities.
As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full scope of site operations — from facilities and safety compliance to people leadership and customer engagement. You'll lead and inspire a passionate team of up to 60 staff to deliver the State Swim program, ensuring a seamless, high-quality experience for swimmers and their families. Your focus on operational excellence and staff development will be critical in maintaining our industry-leading customer service standards.
About you : You're fun, energetic, and customer-focused, with a passion for the safety, wellbeing, and education of children. You enjoy being part of a supportive team that's dedicated to building a thriving community — and you're motivated by the opportunity to play a meaningful role in each individual's journey as they learn the lifelong skill of swimming.
You may have experience as an Operations Manager of a facility, as a Site Manager, or even as a Store Manager in a retail or hospitality environment.Having familiarity with aquatic facilities is a bonus, but not a must-have, if you are open to learning in a fast paced environment.
What we expect from you : 4+ years of demonstrated management experience, ideally in an Operations or Site / Store Manager role
Proven ability to recruit, roster, and manage casual team members, including performance management
A commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality service in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment
Adaptability and accountability in managing operational procedures and site requirements
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
Confident leadership with the ability to engage, develop, and motivate diverse teams
Availability to work one weekend shift per week and a willingness to teach both children and adults in the water
Proficiency in business systems such as rostering software, POS, CRM, and the Microsoft Office Suite
A positive, inclusive, and energetic approach to team culture and workplace dynamics
Experience in the swimming or aquatic industry is highly desirable
Current swimming and / or teaching qualifications are highly regarded
