  • About the Role
  • Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
  • Provide a counselling and referral service to assist students in decision making about critical educational, personal, social, emotional and career development, and provide ongoing support during the implementation phase of their decision.
  • Conduct activities such as student observation and psychoeducational assessment in order to determine the nature of student learning difficulties, disability, developmental levels or psychological and emotional status in order to make recommendations for educational adjustments and interventions.
  • Assist schools in the implementation of student protection, gifted and talented education, behaviour support policies and risk management processes that may involve the development of individualised student plans, including Educational Support Plans.
  • Highly desirable skills and experience;
  • Guidance Practice - Knowledge and skills in current guidance practice, educational policies and curriculum, complex case management. Ability to review external reports and advise on implications / possible impacts accessing learning environment. Knowledge of, and skills in transition planning and implementation across education junctures and also education / alternate learning option junctures. Ability to participate in QCHS data collection processes.

    Communication - Interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, develop and maintain effective and collaborative partnerships in service delivery, develop and maintain supportive relationships with young people and their families. Ability to communicate and respond in a timely manner.

    • Mandatory requirements;
    • This position requires the successful applicant to work in hospital and health settings, which have additional workplace requirements from Queensland Health. It is mandatory for all roles that come into direct contact with patients to provide evidence of vaccination or proof of non

    • susceptibility for the following preventable diseases : Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (chickenpox) and Pertussis (whooping cough). The successful applicant will be provided with official forms to be taken to their local GP for completion and boosters as required. The expectation is that staff have commenced this process before their first work day at QCHS. Any out-of-pocket costs are refunded to staff through QCHS reimbursement processes.
