Our Federal Government client is seeking an

  • Aboriginal Liaison Officer
  • who can work collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve better health outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities
  • About the role
  • Liaise between individual Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, staff, patients' relatives / friends and other health agencies appropriate to the patient's ongoing health needs.
  • Promote the Client as a culturally safe provider of health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.
  • Assist in the provision of appropriate health promotion activities.
  • Other duties as directed and described by policies and procedures, senior clinicians and managers
  • Collate and provide statistical data for monthly reports and as required
  • Ideally, you will have
  • Must have a minimum qualification of Certificate 3 in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or have completed at least 1 year of a health related undergraduate degree.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and cultures and an understanding of the issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in contemporary Australian society, particularly in the context of health care services.
  • Ability to draw on knowledge of the local Aboriginal Community to advocate for the needs of Aboriginal patients by educating and advising other health professionals on the delivery of culturally safe and secure healthcare
  • Ability to effectively and sensitively communicate with patients, families and staff in the health care environment.
  • Ability to organise workloads, to be flexible and to respond effectively to priorities and deadlines within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated capacity to follow policies and procedures and to use sound judgement.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and ability to provide statistical data collected for monthly reports.
