What you'll do

As a Counsellor & Caseworker at Wattle Place, you will provide high quality counselling and therapeutic case work to individuals who have experienced complex childhood trauma, including Forgotten Australians, Former Child Migrants, and people accessing the National Redress Scheme. Your role will focus on offering trauma-informed counselling and practical assistance to help clients navigate their unique challenges. Your responsibilities will include :

• Providing Counselling and Support :   Use structured therapeutic techniques to guide clients through their healing process, helping them make meaningful changes. Sessions will be conducted in-person, online, or over the phone, following organisational guidelines.
• Document Preparation and Casework :  Assist clients with important documentation, including applications for the National Redress Scheme, file releases, and family tracing. You'll also support family reunions and manage sensitive information with care.
• Building Trust :  Establish a secure and respectful environment for clients, ensuring they feel safe to engage throughout their counselling journey.
• Comprehensive Case Management :   Manage the client process from initial referral to case closure, balancing both the clinical and administrative responsibilities outlined in each case plan.
• Connecting Clients to Support :  Facilitate social connection and practical support, partnering with other services to ensure clients receive the assistance they need.
