The Role

This role reports to the North and North Western Tasmania Australian Government Employment Facilitator. Working as a team, you will respond to challenges and take advantage of opportunities to improve the labour market in your region. The North and North Western Tasmania Australian Government Employment Facilitator connects, collaborates and coordinates with stakeholders to identify and act on local labour market priorities. As the Program Officer, you will provide the North and North Western Tasmania Australian Government Employment Facilitator with administrative support to help them manage their time and keep them organised while they are on the road. At other times you may be engaging directly with stakeholders. The Program Officer role will cater to your administrative strengths, while offering development opportunities in stakeholder engagement, communication, and networking skills.
This is not a standard desk job. Each day will be different. The successful candidate will have a high degree of personal drive, initiative and integrity, as well as a passion for helping people to collaborate and deliver outcomes for their local community. You may live in a different part of the region to the North and North Western Tasmania Australian Government Employment Facilitator, so will enjoy working independently and operating as a virtual team to ensure milestones and timeframes are achieved. You will be required to hold a current Australian driver’s licence and travel regularly throughout the North and North Western Tasmania Region (and surrounds) as a representative of the Australian Government at stakeholder forums and events.
The position requires a physical presence in the region as you are expected to be available for face-to-face meetings and community engagements with stakeholders, this may be up to four days a week. Not all meetings will be in office hours, and the role is likely to require some out of hours work within the region.
Duties And Responsibilities
Your role will operate within the Local Jobs Program to support the efforts of the North and North Western Tasmania Australian Government Employment Facilitator. You will help bring together key stakeholders including employers, employment services providers, education and training organisations to collaboratively address challenges and opportunities within the region.
