My client is a privately held family office based in Melbourne CBD, managing the wealth, investments, and philanthropic initiatives of a high-net-worth family. Their mission is to preserve and grow generational wealth through prudent investment strategies, long-term thinking, and a values-driven approach. They invest across a diversified portfolio including public equities, private equity, venture capital, real estate, and alternative assets.

Position Summary

They are seeking a detail-oriented and ambitious Investment Analyst to join their team. This role offers a unique career development opportunity, starting with a strong foundation in investment operations before progressing into a front-office investment role .

As part of a lean and collaborative team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the portfolio’s operational processes. This includes supporting trade execution and settlement, maintaining up-to-date investment records, managing cash flows, and preparing performance and risk reports. The analyst will liaise with custodians, fund managers, accountants, and service providers to ensure smooth operations and timely reporting.

They will also help monitor compliance with internal investment mandates and regulatory requirements, while contributing to process improvements and reporting automation initiatives. This foundational experience is intended to build a deep understanding of the portfolio infrastructure and serve as a strong platform for transitioning into front-office responsibilities.

Over time, and based on performance, the role will progressively expand into investment analysis and decision support, including research, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring.

Key Responsibilities :

• Conduct investment research across asset classes, geographies, and sectors
• Build and maintain financial models to support investment analysis and valuation
• Assist in due diligence for direct investments, fund commitments, and co-investments
• Prepare investment memos and participate in presentations to the investment committee
• Support ongoing portfolio management, including monitoring and rebalancing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, or a related field
• 3-5 years experience in both investment operations and investment analysis is highly valued
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail with excellent organisational abilities
• Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; knowledge of investment systems or reporting tools is an advantage
• Strong communication skills and professional maturity
• CFA qualification or progress toward it is highly regarded
