- The Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory (VIDRL) is a leading Australian infectious diseases reference laboratory located at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity in Melbourne, Victoria.
- The Epidemiology Unit within VIDRL supports the laboratory's core functions, as well as engaging in collaborative local, national and international projects with partners in the Doherty, Parkville precinct and beyond.
- Under the Doherty Epidemiology directors leadership, the team has access to the broader capabilities and development opportunities of Doherty Epidemiology and related networks.
- Your new role
- Assist with management, supervision and training of staff and students within Doherty and through the Master of Public Health at the University of Melbourne;
- Lead engagement with internal and external stakeholders including local public health units, State and Commonwealth Departments of Health;
- Initiate and support projects focused on service delivery, generation of new knowledge and translational public health research;
- Undertake Unit management functions including budget development and review, operational oversight of staff workload and recruitment.
- About you
You have a Masters of Applied Epidemiology or equivalent training and professional experience, as well as :
- A track record of multi-disciplinary and cross sectoral engagement and collaboration with government, clinicians and researchers;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Specific interest or expertise in genomic epidemiology, emerging infectious diseases, respiratory virus infections or vaccine preventable diseases.
