About the role As an AOD Intake and Assessment Practitioner with the STAR Program , you'll be the first point of hope for individuals navigating the challenges of alcohol and other drug use—offering critical support and building tailored pathways to recovery.

Reporting to the Non-Residential Team Leader this is a Permanent, Part-time (30.4 Hours) role, located in Coburg North Victoria. Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Level 5. How you will make an impact Be the guiding voice at the first point of contact, ensuring referrals are responded to swiftly and compassionately, with clear communication to clients and seamless coordination with referring partners. Provide vital interim support to individuals waiting for treatment, offering brief interventions, risk management, and linkages to essential services like housing, mental health, and crisis support. Conduct meaningful assessments that go beyond forms—building trusting relationships, identifying individual needs and risks, and creating tailored, outcome-focused care plans. Champion collaboration and inclusion, working closely with families, partner agencies, and clinical teams to ensure a united, wraparound response that uplifts every client's journey. Uphold excellence and integrity in practice, maintaining accurate records, engaging in team-based learning, identifying service gaps, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement. What you will bring Relevant experience in a social service environment Relevant AOD qualifications and experience highly desirable AOD Skillset or willingness to undertake within the first 12 months of commencing employment What we offer The Salvos offer eligible employee's a well-balanced package of meaningful benefits including :
