About us

Placemaking NSW is responsible for managing and caring for some of Sydneys most iconic harbourside venues and locations including The Rocks Barangaroo Darling Harbour and White Bay Power Station. We also lead the planning and delivery of the Bays West Urban Renewal Precinct a state significant project that will bring new homes jobs and public spaces to 77 hectares of government-owned land just 2 kilometres from Sydneys CBD.

The role

Barangaroo is known for its world-leading sustainability commitments and this role plays a key part in keeping that legacy alive. As Senior Manager Sustainability youll work with building owners tenants consultants and internal teams to lead and deliver on the annual Climate Active Carbon Neutral Certification and other sustainability commitments across the precinct.

Its a dynamic role that calls for excellent stakeholder coordination and project management skills and a deep knowledge of sustainability best practice. Youll manage reporting contracts and compliancewhile helping shape the long-term sustainability aspirations of Barangaroo.

What you will bring to the role

  • Deep experience in sustainability management and carbon accounting with a strong track record in leading carbon neutral certification processes such as Climate Active.
  • Demonstrated success in applying sustainability principles across large-scale urban renewal or precinct developments with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities in complex multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Proven ability to manage commercial contracts and projects within the built form and civil infrastructure sectors ensuring delivery of high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.
  • Expertise in emissions offsetting and environmental data management with a strong focus on accuracy integrity and transparent reporting.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skillscomfortable working with building owners tenants consultants regulators and internal teams to align on sustainability goals.
  • A strategic forward-thinking approach to sustainability with the ability to translate best practice into practical actions that support long-term precinct aspirations.
  • Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in sustainability management and practice commercial contract or project management or equivalent professional experience.
