Job description

The RoleThe role will provide advice, support, and assistance to Hospital and Health Services, non-government and private agencies in the collection, processing and timely submission of Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drug data sets to maximise the quality and utility of information provided.

Reporting to the Principal Data Collection Officer (Consumer Engagement) and the Senior Data Collection Officers within the Analytics Improvement and Transformation Unit, you will be responsible for :

  • Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and enhancement of mental health and alcohol and other drug data sets and provide ongoing liaison, advice, and support to providers on matters relating to definition, collection, and submission of data sets.
  • Provide ongoing liaison, advice and support to Hospital and Health Services, non-government and private agencies regarding mental health and alcohol and other drugs information systems.
  • Provide specialist advice and recommendations regarding the maintenance, review and enhancement of mental health and alcohol and other drug information systems.
  • Develop and implement procedures to identify and rectify discrepancies in information to ensure a high quality of mental health and alcohol and other drug data sets.
  • Use appropriate project and change management methodologies in the management, coordination, and implementation of information initiatives.
  • Prepare high quality and timely reports of mental health and alcohol and other drug data to senior staff, other key stakeholders as well as meeting State and Commonwealth reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and dissemination of high-quality data collection and information system documentation and communications.

The successful person

  • You will have
  • Demonstrated skills in the collection, processing and compilation of statistical data.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing and collating meaningful reports across a large range of clinical and administrative databases available from mental health and alcohol and other drug data sets.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in information systems, development and operation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, consult and negotiate with officers of Queensland Health, non-government organisations, representatives of external agencies and professional bodies, particularly in relation to sensitive and or complex issues.
