The Curator is a key member of the Fairfield City Museum and Gallery team. The purpose of this position is to :
- Develops and implements an exciting, innovative and engaging program of social history exhibitions and public programs that maximises community involvement and participation.
- Supports the promotion of spaces, exhibitions, and public programs to diverse audiences, with the aim of encouraging participation and elevating the public profile of FCMG
- Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with diverse professional and community organisations and cultural institutions to achieve bold and creative cultural outcomes.
- Manages the development, documentation, research, control, display, protection and conservation of the museum's collection.

- Minimum
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication and presentation skills in liaising effectively with a range of audiences and stakeholders.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and in a small team environment.
- High level of skills in the conceptualisation and implementation of social history exhibitions.
- Skills in the development and delivery of public programs for a wide range of audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to research to research and write essays as well as interpretive and exhibition texts.
- Demonstrated collection management skills
- Ability to maintain peer relationships within the Galleries and Museum sector.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with the community.
- Strong interest in social history and related museum professions.
- An appreciation for cultural diversity and an ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to manage a diverse set of tasks within tight deadlines.
- Ability to effectively supervise and direct independent curators to achieve desired outcomes.
- Understanding of and commitment to WHS.
- DESIRABLE
- Knowledge of Fairfield Locality and history
- Qualifications
- MINIMUM
- Degree qualifications and minimum two (2) years' experience in a relevant discipline, i.e. Curatorial Practice, Art History or Cultural Heritage, Museum Studies, Fine Arts, or equivalent
- DESIRABLE
- Post-graduate studies in Curatorial Practice, Art History or Cultural Heritage, Museum Studies, or equivalent
- SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
- Permanent position, _70_ hours per fortnight
- This position is a Grade _5_, salary range is $_86,482_ p.a. with progression to $90,860 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $101.305_ _p.a, plus 12% Super.
