Payroll Officer

We are looking to recruit a Payroll Officer to join our Payroll team of 9 and report to a Head of Payroll. You'll be responsible for contributing to all processes associated with the company's fortnightly, monthly and annual payroll cycles and provides quality service to customers and stakeholders whilst assisting with Payroll Manager and Payroll Team Leader as required

• Responsibilities in the role
• Maintain the salary and / or allowance portfolio ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
• Take responsibility for all fortnightly payroll updates and ensure all changes have received proper signoff, back pay has been calculated and master files have been updated.
• Manage New Hire and Termination portfolio, including information receipt, interpretation, calculation, records management and integrity checking.
• Execute a timely response to payroll queries and action or pass on all electronic and hardcopy forms to the appropriate person.
• Adhere to HR customer service standards and maintain relationships with staff and internal stakeholders.
• Manage daily priorities to ensure most urgent queries are identified and rectified or escalated as required.
• Ensure payroll operations remain within risk and compliance requirements.
• Share ideas for efficiencies and progress by challenging existing processes to encourage a culture of continuous improvement.
• Ensure that all milestones and deadlines are met with focus and work is completed with absolute accuracy.
• To be successful in the role
• Experience in a payroll function within a large and complex organisational structure. (will have managed payroll volumes of 2000+)
• Pays high attention to detail by completing tasks with thoroughness and accuracy and has the ability to quickly identify errors or inconsistencies within information.
• Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated evidence of technical proficiency with systems, software, databases, presentation, reporting and communication tools
