- Who we are
The Communication and Media Branch delivers internal and corporate communication and strategic communication activities in support of the department and our ministers, for the benefit of the Australian community. This includes managing the department's social media strategy and social media presence, media support services across the department and for our ministers' offices, production services including graphic design and branding, Web publishing for external-facing departmental websites, and the development of campaign and non-campaign materials.
The JobDuties include :
delivering high quality, brand compliant graphic design products for print and digital mediums including :developing and / or carrying out design briefs from start to finishdeveloping storyboards from brief to mock ups and ready art for print and web publicationdeveloping branded messages for our key stakeholders and generating ideas, as part of the broader team, for new creative directionsimplementing and monitoring the department's branding and providing advice and technical assistance in brand compliancecollaboratively managing priorities and workloads (including assisting other designers where required) and contributing to the team's work processes and workflowpromoting and contributing to the development of the design team's capabilitycontributing to research, analysis and reporting on the design team's activitycontributing to the further development of the department's style guidelinesmanaging digital assets and ensuring graphic files meet industry standardscontinuing the development of your professional knowledge and expertise in graphic design to professional skill levels.Please notethat if an offer of non-ongoing employment is made, the successful applicant would be employed for an initial period of 12 months with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of 3 years in total. Some of these non-ongoing positions may become ongoing in the next 18 months. Should a position become ongoing then the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of 18 months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may be used to fill the vacancy on an ongoing basis. The merit pool may also be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies in the division where the duties are of a similar nature.What we are looking forKnowledge and experienceProven in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat.Strong working knowledge of contemporary design principles and brand development.
