Position Overview Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. We are looking for a Staff Specialist in Paediatrics! The primary purpose of the role is to provide high-quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Paediatrics, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement, and administrative activities within the Child and Adolescent Unit and Hospital as required. The Staff Specialist will ensure a high standard of professional performance and support an academic environment fostering education, research, and professional development.
About Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Royal Prince Alfred is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and one of Australia's leading tertiary referral hospitals, offering extensive diagnostic and treatment facilities. Annually, over 12,000 children present to RPA ED, with approximately 1,600 admitted for various medical, mental health, and surgical issues.
Child and Adolescent Unit The unit provides a broad range of services, including a busy ten-bed inpatient service, Hospital in the Home program, daily acute review clinics, outpatient clinics in paediatric medical, surgical, and allied health, and support to the Naamuru Parent and Baby Unit, NSW's first public inpatient perinatal mental health facility. The unit emphasizes innovation, quality improvement, and training, maintaining close collaborations with SLHD Emergency Departments, NICU at RPA Hospital, Canterbury Hospital's Paediatric Department, the Sydney Children's Hospital Network, and community services.
Role Responsibilities The Staff Specialist will ensure high professional standards and foster an academic environment that supports education, research, and professional development.
Qualifications and Registration The successful applicant must be registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with recognized qualifications in General Paediatrics or equivalent specialist recognition as per the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Salary and Conditions Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
