About Us
Biosecurity and Rural Services is a key section within the Environment Protection, Biosecurity and Rural Services Branch. We provide technical expertise, compliance support, and coordinate programs across government to manage biosecurity, rural land, livestock production, and invasive species in the ACT.
You'll be joining a dynamic team responsible for biosecurity awareness, preparedness, response, and recovery. We work closely with community, industry, and research partners to tackle biosecurity threats and manage invasive species at a landscape level.
Your Role
As aBiosecurity Engagement Officer , you will :
Collaborate with government units and stakeholders to achieve biosecurity goals across the ACT. Support the delivery of the annual Biosecurity Operations Plan, including managing spatial data and prioritising workloads. Design and implement engagement programs for rural landholders, community groups, and the broader public to raise biosecurity awareness. Contribute to emergency response efforts, including taking on leadership roles when required. What We're Looking For Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience in biosecurity, environmental science, or a related field. Ability to manage projects and data effectively. Knowledge or qualifications in emergency response are highly desirable. Note : This is a temporary position available immediately until 30 June 2026 with the possibility of extension. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
