  • The Coronial Services Officer provides a high-quality service in relation to deaths reported, including coordinating initial investigations, reporting matters to the State Coroner, referring matters for investigation, and authorising and arranging the conveyance of deceased persons within the State.

    • Do you have?
    • Proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally, in order to provide accurate and clear advice and information to a range of stakeholders, especially with medical personnel, bereaved families and the funeral industry.
    • Ability to deliver a high standard of service and successfully deal with grieving, angry and / or distressed people on a regular basis.
    • Experience in providing a range of administrative services including file management, data entry and collection of data and statistics.
    • Experience in understanding medical and pharmacological terminology and an ability to accurately spell complex medical and pharmacological terminology.
    • Experience using a range of data management technology, tools and techniques, including the Microsoft suite of products.
    • Demonstrated ability to organise personal work schedule and manage competing priorities within set timeframes in a demanding and diverse environment.
    • Proven ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

    • Special Conditions
    • Monday to Friday hours rotate between 7.45am to 3.45pm, 9.00am to 5.00pm, and 10.00am to 6.00pm.
    • While on rostered weekends and public holidays the Coronial Services Officer works alone from 8.00am to 4.00pm with phone support as required from the on-call manager.
    • Appointment is under the _Courts Administration Act 1993_. Terms and Conditions of employment are governed by the _Public Sector Act 2009._
    • Appointment is dependent upon a current National Police Certificate that the CAA finds satisfactory.
    • As a justice agency, the CAA may receive details of spent convictions as part of any Criminal History Screening and use this information in the selection process.
    • Appointees may be directed to disclose their COVID-19 vaccination status.

    • ASO3 ($67,589 - $72,033 per annum)
