Job description

The Manager Communication and Education leads and oversees a high-performing team that drives the RTA's media, communication, content, digital, design, education and engagement functions.

This role sets the direction for and oversees the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of internal and external communication and education services to achieve strategic outcomes and promote and protect the brand, reputation, channels, services and organisational culture of the RTA.

Operating within a customer-focused, corporate environment that values your leadership skills, professional judgement and high attention to detail, you will be part of a multidisciplinary leadership team that provides timely and strategic advice to shape decision making, mitigate risks and leverage opportunities, in partnership with your team.

You will coach and guide your team to manage a diverse portfolio of work, balancing a mix of planned and reactive deliverables, that develops your people and delivers positive outcomes for the RTA, our customers and the Queensland rental sector. Importantly, you will be committed to continuous growth and be flexible to change and operating at pace to help achieve the RTA's strategic objectives and digital transformation. What we offer is :

  • To be successful you will need
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing targeted and integrated communication, media, digital and education strategies for internal and external audiences.
  • Proven media relations and issues management experience.
  • Experience working directly with senior leaders and stakeholders to inform, negotiate and shape decision making.
  • Exceptional judgement and written and verbal communication skills, with a high attention to detail in every element of writing, editing and publishing.
  • The ability to work under pressure and confidently manage and adapt flexibly to shifting priorities and leading through change.
  • Demonstrated experience managing team operations including budgets, procurement, workloads and resources, planning and reporting, recordkeeping and policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a fast-paced corporate communication, media or public relations team is essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience to lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary team, including fostering a culture of accountability, feedback, continuous improvement and employee wellbeing.
