About the role :

As a key driver of growth at Fleetwood, the Business Development Manager will play a vital role in expanding our footprint in Western Australia’s education sector. This dynamic position is focused on securing new business opportunities while nurturing and strengthening existing relationships within the education market. You will proactively identify and pursue high-potential opportunities with schools, Kindergardens, educational institutions, and government bodies, positioning Fleetwood’s modular construction solutions as the smart, flexible choice for modern learning environments.

Your ability to educate stakeholders on the transformative benefits of modular construction—such as speed, scalability, and reduced disruption—will be central to your success. With a strong strategic mindset, you'll align with Fleetwood’s broader sales strategy to deliver increased market share and sustainable growth in the education space. The key responsibilities of the role are to :

  • Identify, build, and develop new client relationships within target markets, with a focus on the education sector
  • Pursue, qualify, and progress new business opportunities in line with the Fleetwood Bid Process
  • Deliver compelling sales calls and presentations to communicate Fleetwood’s value proposition
  • Negotiate and explain complex project concepts to a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Support and actively contribute to the execution of Fleetwood’s sales strategy
  • Develop and implement strategic plans through research, market analysis, and customer needs assessment
  • Monitor competitor practices and pricing to shape effective sales and marketing strategies
  • Assist in building strong, personalised customer relationships to enhance satisfaction and maximise profitability
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to lead solution development that meets customer requirements
  • Provide full project lifecycle support, including sales, delivery, customer follow-up, and feedback
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records and activity logs
  • Attend client meetings and site visits as required to support project and relationship outcomes
  • Provide general sales support to the broader Sales team as needed
  • Lead bid and proposal development, including tenders, presentations, and contract implementation
  • Support key account management and ongoing engagement of existing clients
  • Prepare and present risk assessments, opportunity documentation, and contract review forms

About You :

You are a passionate, dynamic, and strategically minded professional with a proven ability to think creatively and deliver results. With a strong drive to exceed targets, you excel at identifying and converting new business opportunities. Your sales approach is solutions-focused, and you use your industry insight to deliver tailored, impactful proposals that meet the unique needs of clients.

Ideally, you bring proven experience in business development within the education,governement or mining sector. Experience in the modular construction or broader commercial construction industry will be highly regarded, as will your understanding of the specification and tender procurement cycle.

Your ability to confidently engage stakeholders, build strong relationships, and navigate complex sales processes is key to your success. You thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment and are motivated by the opportunity to grow market share and drive strategic outcomes for the business.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate :

  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in a similar role in modular building, or comparable commercial construction industry.
  • Proven business development exprience within the education or mining sector is preffered
  • Experience within modular construction would be an advantage
  • The desire to identify, drive and develop new business opportunities and work toward converting leads.
  • Highly commercial, energetic and driven to achieve results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare detailed tender submissions.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to establish and maintain strong connections.
  • Demonstrated experience selling to education or government based clients would be an advantage.
  • A sound understanding of the specification and tender procurement cycle.
  • Ability to manage changing and competing priorities in order to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced computing skills, particularly in MS Excel, Word, Outlook & CRM Software.
  • Excellent customer service and stakeholder manager experience.
