Job Description
We are seeking a Spatial Data specialist to elevate our visual stories. You will be applying your knowledge of mapping and data to our marquee stories, including investigations and exclusives.
This role will focus on creating best-in-class digital visualisations, helping us reach and attract new audiences. You will work alongside top journalists, photographers, video producers, and editors to produce industry-leading visual content across all platforms for The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, Brisbane Times and WAToday.
Day to day you will :
Work with journalists, developers and designers on spatial data and mapping content for news and features.Create data-driven visual stories.Prioritise audience experience.Identify potential visual stories and generate original ideas.Assist in and eventually lead project management.Meet tight deadlines and work accurately.Support team members and communicate constructively.Stay updated on industry best practices.
Qualifications
What you'll bring :
A keen eye for detail and a love for visual storytelling.Ability to work to a brief and a tight deadline.Familiarity with Esri and ArcGIS online tools, QGIS or similar.Understanding of satellite imaging tools.Strong interest in data / visual investigations and news and current affairs.Experience with data processing / formatting.Experience with HTML / CSS, Photoshop / Illustrator / Figma, and front-end development (JavaScript, React) is desirable.
