  • SMS Mining Services is a privately owned, West Australian-based Mining Contractor, Part of the Rivet Group. Founded in 2000, SMS has progressed from being solely Equipment Rental to now having extensive involvement in the Maintenance, Contract Mining, and Drill and Blast Divisions.

The purpose of the Trainer and Assessor is to provide quality competency-based training and assessment services to our employees. The delivery of service shall reflect SMS's commitment to safety as the "number one" priority, this shall be a direct enabler to improve our productivity and competitiveness.

  • Job Tasks, Roles and responsibilities
  • Tasks, Roles, and Responsibilities :
  • The primary responsibility of the SMS Trainer and Assessor is the overall development and delivery of training requirements within the business.
  • In partnership with Site Management this position will maintain a training needs analysis for all position descriptions.
  • Identify and deliver training and assessment as and where required.
  • The development and delivery of training requirements e.g., PPT across the site or as directed by management
  • Conducting Verification of Competencies (VOC) documentation as per company requirements.
  • Assist other SMS Departments with their training requirements.
  • Engage with SMS Training Department with scheduling, booking and co-ordination of both internal and external training activities.
  • Instilling correct and appropriate behaviors' and skills into the workforce, through coaching, mentoring, and guiding instructional techniques.
  • Participate in meetings and activities relevant to the position.
  • Work collaboratively as an effective team member.
  • Undertake administrative and co-ordination duties as required by the position.
  • Collate and analyze relevant training and prepare monthly performance reports (Monthly Dashboard).
  • Promote a safe work environment by adhering to the SMS Safety Commitments and Values.
  • Skills and Experience
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessing - TAE 40116
  • Experience as a Site based Trainer and Assessor within a mining environment
  • Training in a maintenance environment (Desirable)
  • Maintenance Trade background (Desirable)
  • Strong time management and coordination ability
  • Development and continual review of training documentation
  • Good understanding within a mining environment
  • Good understanding of RTO training
  • Experience in working with a diverse workforce
  • Ability to undertake a gap analysis of site training matrix / training needs analysis (TNA)
  • Hold the required competencies to be able to be registered through an RTO, to deliver Nationally Recognised Training e.g., Working at Heights

  • 140,000.00 per year
