About the role The Acute Care Service model of care provides :
Mental Health assessments to consumers within the community experiencing acute mental health problems (including a rapid response when indicated) and determining an appropriate pathway to care (e.g., community treatment; assist consumers access and admission to inpatient treatment). Short term mental health treatment in the community often as an alternative to hospital. In reach to hospital to promote effective follow up post mental health admission. Collaborative care for consumers transferring between hospital and community. The model provides short term mental health interventions in the community for consumers experiencing mental health distress. Once the symptoms have resolved and the presentation is no longer acute the team collaborate with other stakeholders for the most appropriate ongoing care and treatment. The Mental Health Nurse will practice in keeping with the standardised Sydney LHD position description for the profession in addition to this position description. 2 years experience in mental health is required to be successful in this position.
We are looking for someone who has Recognised nursing tertiary qualifications, current nursing registration with AHPRA. Demonstrated competencies to provide contemporary mental health practice. Minimum 2 years experience in mental health. Ability to work on a 7 day rotating roster. About working for SLHD This is a Category A position. To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2022_030).

Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
