Our Support Workers actively engage the people we support in their daily living, building their capacity & independence, supporting them with their recovery journey. Our SIL home in
Maroubraprovides 24 / 7 residential support for women who primarily have a diagnosis of mental health but may also have a Psychosocial Disability, an Intellectual Disability and / or Physical Health need.The current opportunity is
Part Time18-36 hours per week) with day, overnight & weekend shifts available, andstarting remuneration based on relevant skills and experiencein line with the SCHADS Award, plus loading, superannuation & salary packagingResponsibilities_Building the capacity, routine, social skills & independent living skills of the people we support by assisting them with daily activities (e.g. domestic, health, social, community access)Building rapport and managing challenging behaviours by following established plansProviding support to attend regular meetings with case managers and health professionalsWriting accurate case notes and recording them using the online ICLA client management systemEnabling the social inclusion of ICLA clients in the communityMaintaining infection control measures and adapting to evolving Covid-19 requirements.ABOUT YOUEssential Criteria_One years' experience working with people with complex mental health _OR_ relevant qualification _OR_ 1 years' experience working in a caring role.Enthusiasm, a 'can do' attitude, adaptability, and a willingness to engage in continuous learning and development opportunitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong problem-solving skills, boundaries, ability to follow a plan and creative thinkingPunctuality and reliabilityAbility to work independently and within a teamRight to work in Australia,A current driver's license and confidence driving in SydneyCurrent NDIS Check or willingness to complete prior to commencing.First Aid & CPR Certificate or willingness to complete prior to commencing.Your own smartphone / device to access our apps for managing work information (training will be provided)Desirable : _I_ndonesian and / or Cantonese speaking applicants_ are highly regarded for this particular homeExperience working in a residential care environmentRelevant qualification or work experience in mental health or disability supportDemonstrated knowledge of, or willingness to learn provision of supports in a trauma informed wayAbility to deescalate consumers in distress with empathy, patience and understandingHOW TO APPLYBENEFITSICLA offers : _Inclusive and committed culture where everyone's contribution is valuedOngoing learning and development opportunitiesCharity salary packaging for permanent staff to pay benefits and living expenses from pre-tax salaryFlexible working practicesPaid Parental LeaveABOUT USIndependent Community Living Australia (ICLA) is a not-for-profit community organisation delivering mental health recovery services and personalised support to individuals with psychosocial, intellectual and other disabilities as well as those seeking support at difficult times in their life.
