Release Train Engineer (RTE) – Federal Government Contract

Contract Duration : 12 Months + 2x 12-Month Extension Option

Security Clearance : Must be an Australian Citizen with Baseline clearance

Join a high-profile Federal Government department as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) and play a key leadership role in delivering complex ICT initiatives using Agile at scale.

The RTE acts as a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART), facilitating ART events and processes while driving collaboration, value delivery, and continuous improvement. This is a strategic opportunity to contribute to the organisation’s transformation by guiding Agile teams, managing risks and dependencies, and embedding SAFe principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, facilitate, and lead ART events including Program Increment (PI) planning, System Demos, Scrum of Scrums, and Inspect & Adapt sessions.
• Align multiple teams to agile principles and ensure progress in agile maturity across the department.
• Drive visibility through roadmap publication, performance reporting, and coordination of dependencies.
• Lead continuous improvement, change initiatives, and adoption of Lean-Agile practices.
• Champion and embed Scaled Agile (SAFe) practices tailored to the department’s delivery methodology.
• Support DevOps adoption and guide technical standards through collaboration with architecture and product teams.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the enterprise.
• Provide expert advice to executive leadership to support governance and strategic alignment.
