We're recruiting a variety of new roles in advance of the WNBL 2025 / 26 season – a move reflecting a strategic effort to enhance the management and operations of the WNBL, ensuring it aligns with broader goals for growth, visibility, and competitive success within women's basketball.

What You'll Do

As Compliance Manager , you will serve as the league's primary authority on compliance and integrity matters, ensuring the WNBL operates with the highest standards of governance and ethical conduct. You'll lead the development and implementation of comprehensive compliance frameworks while driving a culture of accountability and transparency across all league activities.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance

• Lead engagement with Basketball Australia, WNBL Clubs, and regulatory bodies on compliance matters.
• Provide strategic advice to Executive Team and Board on compliance issues and risk mitigation strategies.
• Develop, implement, and oversee all WNBL compliance policies including Operations Manual and league rules.
• Establish internal controls ensuring compliance with applicable laws and BA governance standards.

Integrity & Dispute Management

• Oversee all grievance and integrity matters, including CBA disputes with the Australian Basketball Players' Association.
• Manage Game Review Panel and Tribunal processes, ensuring fair and efficient hearings.
• Coordinate with legal counsel on complex compliance matters and policy breaches.

Operational Excellence

• Serve as senior compliance lead during WNBL events with authority to resolve real-time issues.
• Conduct annual compliance audits and design league-wide training programs for clubs, players, and officials.
• Produce regular compliance reports and maintain understanding of emerging regulatory issues.

What You Bring

• Proven leadership in compliance strategy with strong sports governance and legal knowledge, particularly Basketball Australia's National Integrity Framework.
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with experience managing stakeholder partnerships across multiple organisations.
• Risk management expertise with ability to develop and implement practical compliance frameworks.
• Deep experience in dispute resolution, grievance handling, and project management from conception to execution.
• Strategic thinking capabilities combined with analytical precision in policy review and investigations.
• Training and development skills for delivering compliance education programs.
