Location : Matraville, NSW Employment type : Ongoing – Full-time or Part-time (job share considered)

Salary :

  • Psychologist : $76,531 – $113,765pa. Specialist Psychologist : $109,631 - $134,446pa Plus environmental allowance, employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Join the Metropolitan Special Programs Centre (MSPC) and support individuals convicted of violent offences to change, grow, and reintegrate into the community. You'll deliver high-impact psychological services through the Violent Offender Therapeutic Program (VOTP) as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team in a structured therapeutic environment.

We welcome provisionally registered psychologists and offer :

  • What you’ll do

    As a Psychologist or Specialist Psychologist, you will :

  • Conduct psychological assessments and criminogenic risk evaluations
  • Deliver structured group interventions (e.g., VOTP and SRP-VO for cognitive impairment)
  • Collaborate on behaviour management and case plans within a therapeutic community
  • Provide expert consultation to staff on complex mental health and risk matters
  • Prepare reports for key authorities (e.g., SPA, MHRT, SORC)
  • Maintain records using the Offender Integrated Management System (OIMS)
  • What we’re looking for

  • Experience or strong interest in forensic or correctional psychology
  • Ability to work with clients with complex needs in a structured, therapeutic setting
  • Confident group facilitation and risk assessment skills
  • A collaborative, resilient, and ethical approach to service delivery
  • Minimum four-year accredited qualification in psychology
  • Current provisional or full AHPRA registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
