KEY OBJECTIVES
The Lecturer is responsible for delivering high-quality education for undergraduate and postgraduate students in information technology in one or more areas of business information systems, cyber security, data analytics and digital leadership.
SCOPE OF THE POSITION
The Lecturer plays an important academic role in contributing to the achievement of AAEG's strategic objectives, particularly its strong commitment to an exceptional student experience, innovative teaching practices, quality learning outcomes, and academic success.
Their contribution to the students' academic success can be in many forms, including leadership in unit and course development; innovation and creativity in teaching; assessment, moderation, and benchmarking / external referencing; academic oversight / supervision and mentoring of early career academics; student academic support; and relevant administrative tasks.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
As Level B Lecturer :
- Undertake independent professional and scholarly activities in information technology or a related area (for example, active participation in professional bodies, publications in refereed journals, presentation to conferences and publications in conference proceedings) and lead / participate in research projects as appropriate.
- Plan and deliver inspiring and innovative teaching to enhance student experience and academic success.
- Lead unit and / or course development as required.
- Actively contribute to the Learning and Teaching Committee's work including in assessment design, moderation, and benchmarking and external referencing.
- Encourage and facilitate student engagement in intellectual inquiry appropriate to the level of expected learning outcomes.
- Provide academic guidance and support to students, including advising on career pathways and postgraduate study options as appropriate.
- Lead and / or participate in seminars, meetings, and Committees at AAEG.
- Engage in professional development programs for the Information Technology profession.
- Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of AAEG and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
- SCHOLARSHIP
A requirement of your employment is that you engage in scholarship, irrespective of your employment type (casual, sessional, fixed term, ongoing) or level of academic appointment. This is a regulatory requirement for all staff engaged in teaching or academic leadership roles (including course and unit coordination) within registered Higher Education Providers.

- SELECTION CRITERIA
- Essential
- A PhD in Information Technology or related area
- Deep knowledge of contemporary developments in the discipline
- Demonstrated experience of high quality teaching in a tertiary environment
- Demonstrated experience in effective curriculum development, assessment and moderation of units / courses including peer review and benchmarking of unit / course materials
- Demonstrated evidence of research and / or scholarly activities and professional development in the field of Information Technology
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from diverse background
- Ability to design and implement support for students' learning activities through various media and modes
- Understanding of how teaching practices can be informed by scholarship and / or research
- Demonstrated understanding of equity and diversity principles, and Work Health & Safety

- A postgraduate qualification in higher education teaching and learning
- Relevant current professional membership, registrations and certifications
