Role

An intensivist position at this hospital offers a dynamic opportunity to provide critical care in a regional setting. The hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is accredited for 12 months of advanced training in intensive care, including rural, paediatrics, trauma, and neurosurgery. With approximately 1,300 adult and paediatric admissions annually, the ICU provides exposure to tropical medicine and Aboriginal health.

The role involves managing critically ill patients, participating in multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to quality and safety initiatives. The successful applicant will also engage in education, including ICU teaching and involvement in teaching programs. Hospital

This is the largest hospital in the Health Service, with 331 beds, and offers specialist services. It provides training for medical students enrolled in the University of Queensland – Central Queensland Rural Clinical School, and has links with the Central Queensland University for Nursing and Health Studies. The hospital places a strong emphasis on growing its own medical workforce, with an active Medical Education Unit and registrar training being a major focus within the health service. It is also accredited for RACP Basic Physician Training and is a host site for the RACP Divisional Clinical Examination.
