Overview
Calling experienced Library Archive specialists! We have a 3-month contract role working on a Library Digitisation Project in Auburn in Sydney. Up to $65.44 p / h plus super.
Primary Purpose of the Position
This role will work on the Library Digestion Project and be responsible for uploading scanned files into the FIRST library database. Cataloguing, key word tagging, checking file errors, and improving search terms will be a key part of this role.
Within the project, there is a large number of scanned files (mostly PDFs) that require to be uploaded into the FIRST Library database and catalogued appropriately. PDF's will need to be uploaded to records then have appropriate key word tagging applied. Checking existing records for any errors and improving search terms will also be required. Other items will require original cataloguing.
Key skills and experience
Experience in original cataloguing
Excellent grasp of search terms, key words, and familiarity of how library catalogues work from a customer perspective.
Tracking where items have been processed and others that require follow up
Experience working with library systems - previous experience using the FIRST system is highly regarded
Experience working with Microsoft systems, including MS Teams
Solid attention to detail
Proven organisational skills.
Ability to follow instructions and efficiently carry out work unsupervised
Confidence in seeking guidance where needed, and escalating issues where required
Ability to work unsupervised once initial training has been provided
Library qualifications - either BA in Library Information Science, Associate Diploma, or equivalent.
