  • The Opportunity
  • The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Executive Level 1 Assistant Director Physical Security Assets within Security Enabling Services Branch.

    Security Division is a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. We actively encourage cross-functional collaboration across a range of projects to deliver a complete and well-rounded security framework that includes policy and procedure development, electronic systems management and process implementation, risk management, access management, personnel and physical security and compliance monitoring.

We liaise extensively with other federal agencies and parliamentary departments to manage security at APH.     • We are looking to fill the role of Assistant Director Physical Security Assets with the Physical Security Assets team within Security Enabing Services Branch.
    • The role is required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, contractors, and supervisors to ensure that all work is undertaken in a professional and timely manner.
    • Job Specific Requirements
    • The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential / Highly Protected / Secret) security clearance.

    • Under limited / general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Executive Level 1 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following :

      1. Provide effective leadership to a team with responsibility for the management of the Department's physical security environment, capability and compliance.

      2. Demonstrated experience with various security screening equipment such as x-ray machines, walkthrough metal detectors and explosive trace detectors.

      3. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills to interrogate information, substantiate evidence, succinctly present facts, communicate findings and recommendations to a range of target audiences.

      4. Significant experience in information gathering, analysis, compliance assessment against legislation or policy, problem-solving skills with high levels of attention to detail.

      5. Ability to effectively manage competing priorities under pressure, think strategically and provide innovative solutions to complex issues.

      6. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills including the ability to communicate effectively, proactively develop productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

      7. Ability to actively contribute to team culture and leadership in promoting a positive security culture at APH
