Our client is currently looking for multiple
- External Budget Officers
- for one of our federal government departments.
- Key Responsibilities
- EL1 Level
Reporting to the External Budget Directors, the Assistant Director is responsible for :
- working closely with key internal and external stakeholders, including senior executive, central agencies and the Minister's Office, to formulate and provide strategic advice and support in relation to budget matters
- facilitating and advising on the development and delivery of costings, costing justifications and new policy proposals
- coordinating and supporting the delivery of key budget publications
- coordinate and support the management of the portfolio's budget estimates, including maintaining timely and accurate estimates in Budget systems (CBMS-R and TM1).
- APS6 Level
- providing advice and support to business areas on the development of NPPs, costings and detailed costing justifications
- analysing, reviewing and updating program estimates and costing models to support the preparation of the department's forward estimates, including maintaining timely and accurate estimates in Budget systems (CBMS-R and TM1)
- supporting the preparation of budget publications including the Portfolio Budget Statements and Additional Estimates Statements
- providing technical advice and support on matters relating to the Commonwealth Management Framework, including the Commonwealth budget process and to support briefings and responses to Ministerial correspondence
- assisting with the development of briefing packs and drafting correspondence and submissions relating to the budget process
- assisting with responding to ad hoc queries from the Ministers' Offices and central agencies
- liaising with internal stakeholders, portfolio entities and central agencies on budget matters.
- Skills and Experience
There are no specific qualifications required for these roles, however government experience in a similar role is desirable.?For External Budget Officer, accounting qualifications are desirable but not essential.
We are seeking several individuals with the following skills and capabilities :
- strong analytical and conceptual skills and sound judgement
- well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- strong numerical and analytical skills, with a demonstrated capacity to analyse financial / accounting / costings issues, and ability to maintain and use complex spreadsheets
- strong stakeholder engagement and liaison skills
- ability to achieve results and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment
- ability to work both in a team and independently on complex accountability, financial and policy matters, and work collaboratively across the department and other portfolios agencies.
