Are you just beginning your legal career in Western Australia or looking to make a meaningful early career change?

Legal Aid WA is looking for solicitors at SCL1 and SCL2 levels to join our Criminal Law Division.

As a solicitor in our team, you will focus on the provision of duty lawyer services and will also undertake a range of legal work including research, case work, legal assistance, advice and representation. These duties involve direct contact with clients at Legal Aid WA offices, courts, prisons, detention centres and hospitals.

The available positions are well suited to both entry level and experienced solicitors and present challenging but rewarding opportunities for personal and professional development.

We’re looking to recruit solicitors whose values align with those of Legal Aid WA – in particular, respect, being client-centred, and making a difference to the lives of people experiencing disadvantage. Clients can present with drug and alcohol issues, mental health issues, or in distress, so the communication skills to manage these situations are required. You must also be able to work autonomously and as part of a team in often high-pressure situations that might be time sensitive.
