Community Transport Drivers

St George Community Transport (STGCT) is a not-for-profit organisation that is committed to improving the lives of its customers, by providing a range of services to meet their needs, goals and preferences which will enable them to live independently in their own homes.

• About the role

Purpose of this role to provide safe, reliable and comfortable transport for all clients that is in accordance with the service's policies and procedures and complying with all traffic and related legislation.

Our drivers are the face of the organisation and responsible for; Operating allocated fleet vehicles; Assisted pickups and transport for elderly and disabled clients - (including using the wheelchair hoist); Assisting with transport and carriage of shopping bags and mobility aids; Operation of computerised trip and GPS systems

• Essential
• LR licence with satisfactory driving record
• Current First Aid Certificate - or willingness to obtain prior to commencement of role).
• Drivers Authorisation (willingness to complete during probation period).
• Pass a health assessment, equivalent to bus and taxi drivers.
• Willingness to undertake on-going training and vehicle orientation
• General computer literacy and ability to use a tablet and / or smartphone
• Ability to work and communicate effectively, especially with the elderly and frail, people with disability and those from culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Detailed geographical knowledge of the area including major local landmarks
• Time management skills
• Drivers are required to fully vaccinated for COVID19 in accordance with the requirements of state legislation

• A NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children check must be completed and cleared before employment may commence
• Desirable
• Understanding of the disability and aged care service environment.
• Ability to work in a flexible, multi-tasking environment
