Mount Gibson Iron Limited is an established independent Australian producer of premium quality direct shipping iron ore (DSO) with assets in the Kimberley and Mid-West regions of Western Australia.

Mount Gibson's flagship operation is the Koolan Island mine, located approximately 140km north of Derby in the Buccaneer Archipelago in the Kimberley. The mine is Australia's highest-grade producer of direct-shipping grade hematite, with an average Ore Reserve grade of 65.5% Fe and a current mine life of +5 years.

  • About the role
  • We are now seeking to employ an experienced Superintendent - Culture, Development and Human Resources at our Koolan Island Operation on a 4 / 5 8 / 4 (12-hour day) roster from Perth, Broome or Derby.

    This position reports directly to the site General Manager but is also responsible for HR support to the Perth Head Office. You'll be responsible for developing programs to build site culture, developing and implementing leadership training programs, supervising the recruitment function and providing generalist HR support to both the site and head office personnel - approximately 350 staff

    The position provides a unique opportunity to work in the spectacular Buccaneer Archipelago region of the Kimberley on a diverse range of issues including endangered species, marine, rehabilitation and heritage.

  • Key tasks and responsibilities
  • Provide advice and support to Koolan Island and Mount Gibson Iron on HR matters
  • Support site supervisors and leaders in the execution of their roles
  • Provide coaching and support to line managers and leaders
  • Develop and implement attraction and retention strategies
  • Supervise the local HR team which includes payroll
  • Maintain HR metrics and reporting
  • To be successful in this role, you'll need
  • Experience in front line HR support in a resource sector setting
  • Generalist knowledge in area's including IR, OD and talent management
  • An ability to engage and influence with all site staff
  • A tertiary qualification in HR or related discipline
