As part of the Development & Technology Pilbara Projects Team, you will support project delivery from feasibility to construction, collaborating closely with contractors and operations teams.About This RoleWe are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join a Tier One mining client delivering major expansion projects in the Pilbara.

This role is vital in ensuring the safe execution of high-risk field activities over the next five years.

As part of the Development & Technology Pilbara Projects Team, you will support project delivery from feasibility to construction, collaborating closely with contractors and operations teams.As the Health and Safety Specialist, you will provide leadership and oversight for safety performance across multiple major projects.

Acting as a key liaison between contractors and operations teams, you'll coach and mentor project teams, lead incident investigations, and ensure alignment with corporate HSEQ standards.

Your role will be instrumental in promoting a zero-harm culture and driving continuous improvement across the portfolio.Implement the Safety Maturity Model, Fatality Prevention, and Critical Risk Management programsMentor, coach, and lead contractor safety personnel across multiple project sitesFacilitate and support incident investigations, audits, and risk assessmentsProvide HSE support and guidance to project managers, superintendents, and contractorsMonitor safety performance trends and develop initiatives to address emerging risksConduct internal audits and identify gaps against performance standardsOversee compliance with WHS regulations and the HSEQ Management SystemCoordinate with project leaders to ensure safe project execution and interface managementDevelop and deliver safety training and risk management tools to enhance team capabilityBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholdersChampion the delivery of safety KPIs and reporting across the teamRequirementsTertiary qualifications in Health & Safety (or equivalent experience in a specialist HSE role)Extensive experience in mining, construction, or heavy industryStrong experience in a leadership or supervisory roleDegree-level qualification in a relevant fieldSection 26 Supervisor Ticket or SSE TicketAudit qualification and experience conducting HSEQ auditsCert IV in Workplace Training & AssessmentRisk Facilitation certification or proven facilitation experienceFrontline Management certification or equivalent experience in leading safety team.Demonstrated proficiency in : Hazard identification and risk assessment, Incident investigation and root cause analysis, HSE reporting, coaching, and trainingStrong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writingCurrent WA Manual C-Class Driver's LicenceAbility to pass a pre-employment medical, national police clearance (within 6 months), and hold full Australian working rightBenefitsFIFO from Perth on a 2 : 1 rosterOpportunity to be part of critical, long-term expansion projects with a Tier One mining clientCompetitive remuneration and salary sacrificing optionsSupportive, safety-focused team cultureAccess to Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and corporate discountsStrong focus on professional development and on-site leadership opportunitiesAbout Brunel : Brunel is a recruitment and flexible workforce solution provider which connects talented people with opportunities throughout Australasia and around the world.
