Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement and monitor contemporary injury management processes and systems including recovery at work and early intervention to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvements of health and injury management in accordance with legislation and internal guidelines.
Manage and evaluate contracts for workplace health services and employee assistance program providers to ensure relevance, quality service and cost effectiveness. Implement strategies aimed to reduce WorkCover premiums and reduce claims.
Advise, support and train managers and supervisors on injury management, including psychosocial, early intervention strategies and dispute management aimed at effective case management and building capability.
Research and interpret legislation and current best practices to formulate strategic health safety and wellbeing strategies, policies, standards and guidelines in consultation with key stakeholders.
Prepare submissions, reports, briefs and other documentation to advise the Minister, Director-General and Executive Officers on significant issues as required and in line with reporting framework.
Recommend and implement strategies to prevent / reduce / manage common law claims and coordinate cases liaising with internal and external stakeholders for fair resolution.
Manage stakeholder relationships with DJAG Divisions, DJAG agencies, industry regulators, insurers, unions, government agencies and community groups to build trusted relationships, champion injury management and health promotion across DAG and promote accessibility and responsiveness to claims.
Supervise, mentor and coach direct reports to build capability of each team member, aid career development and enhance organisational performance.
Undertake complex injury management cases including early assessment, development of comprehensive rehabilitation programs and return to work plans to optimise the safe return to work and / or case closure.
In consultation with the Principal HSW Consultant (Safety) advocate and lead key workplace mental health awareness initiatives across DJAG. Collaborate and partner with senior leaders to improve the understanding of metal health conditions and the effect on the workforce to better handle mental health in the workplace.
