The Role

The purpose of the role and your unique contribution is to be part of the operational risk team responsible for driving efficient and effective management of operational risk in the Direct Insurance Australian Division.

The Lead, Operational Risk assigns, oversees and undertakes risk identification management, mitigation and reporting alongside business owners aligned to the IAG Risk Management Strategy, Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Statement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads the uplift of Risk maturity across Australia via a business partnering model with the Business Unit Risk representatives to facilitate the taking of risk within appetite by risk owners
  • Leads business unit risk profiling activity & risk forums alongside the operational risk managers
  • Co-ordinates and ensures risk profiles & control test outcomes are regularly updated in the relevant risk systems
  • Drives process excellence through continuous improvement of operations and performance
  • Certifies compliance with our policies, procedures, contracts, applicable laws and regulations alongside the Compliance Specialist
  • Lead a team of Risk Consultants

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in General insurance or financial services industry, and exposure to risk management or compliance role
  • Risk Management experience, Business acumen
  • Mindset : Professional Growth, Self-aware, Passionate about partnering for success
  • Strong work ethic, Consultative, Courageous in speaking up
  • Tertiary qualification / s in Economics / Accounting / Finance / Law or related fields desired
  • Relevant industry or specialism qualifications e.g. : ANZIIF, AS / NZSISO 31000 : 2009 (Risk management -principles and guidelines)
  • Understands key parameters and decision factors in managing risk effectively
