Civil Supervisor - Defence & Transport

About the Role :

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Civil Supervisor to oversee the delivery of civil construction works on Defence and Transport infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for supervising on-site operations, ensuring work is completed safely, to specification, and within programme timelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction, a hands-on approach to leadership, and experience working on complex, high-compliance projects.

Key Responsibilities :

Supervise day-to-day civil construction activities on-site across Defence and Transport projects

Lead and coordinate site crews and subcontractors to ensure efficient work practices

Monitor and enforce compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards

Ensure construction is delivered in line with project specifications, drawings, and Australian Standards

Liaise with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to address technical or logistical issues

Manage daily site records, including progress reports, safety documentation, and permits

Support project scheduling and planning by providing updates on site progress and resource requirements

Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and risk assessments

Identify and resolve site issues in a timely and cost-effective manner

Foster a strong safety-first culture and ensure all team members follow site protocols

Requirements :

Proven experience as a Civil Supervisor in infrastructure projects, ideally within Defence or Transport sectors

Strong understanding of civil works including earthworks, drainage, pavements, and structural elements

Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation, environmental compliance, and QA processes

Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

Experience managing subcontractors and multi-disciplinary teams

White Card and relevant certifications (e.g., First Aid, Confined Space, etc.)

Defence project experience and security clearance (or ability to obtain) will be highly regarded
