The First Aid Department predominately undertakes the initial management of first aid for our staff and guests. The First Aid Staff are required to provide care and attention with accidents and emergencies before professional medical care arrives or is required / available. This person also assists with coordination of Emergency Services throughout the Zoo.
- Duties include -
- Undertaking initial treatment of injuries and / or illnesses to guests vising Australia Zoo.
- Recording details of first aid given and completing Incident reports in full for staff and patrons requiring treatment.
- Attending all demonstrations and shows where required.
- Undertake vehicle inspections weekly.
- Promoting First Aid services within the zoo.
- Daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance of First Aid Rooms and First Aid Kits as scheduled.
- Assist with the formulation of First Aid management strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Educate and improve awareness of other staff in initial responses for first aid situations.
- Networking with medical personnel.
- Regular liaison with Human Resources and Workplace Health and Safety.
- Knowledge of hazards of the working environment.
- Essential Criteria -
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for the duration of a scheduled shift.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Full availability, weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications.
- Advanced First Aid qualifications - Defibrillator and O2.
- A high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to engage, negotiate and communicate effectively with all staff (all levels) and guests to ensure ongoing relationship management.
- Clear decision-making skills and good judgement.
- Preferred Criteria -
- Relevant Certificates / Qualifications relevant to the role.
- Any relevant WHS experience.
- Manual drivers' licence.
- Experience in a similar environment.
